Food Works SW innovation centre opens

The multi-million-pound Food Works SW centre has now opened for business to food and drink producers as North Somerset Council handed over control to The Food and Drink Forum as part of a 15-year contract.

Located at the Junction 21 Enterprise Zone in Weston-super-Mare, the project has been in development since North Somerset Council won funding from the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). The 12 business and development units are “now available for anyone finding themselves needing more space during this time or those businesses who have had to diversify and are in need of an area to develop their products ready for delivery” during the coronavirus crisis.

The units at the centre are various sizes for start-ups or established businesses to rent and there will a team of staff on-site to support tenants with operational or technical business enquiries. The modern, food-grade premises meet the latest environmental health legislation and will allow tenants to “to fulfil their production requirements safe in the knowledge that maintenance costs will be minimised and that they can achieve BRC Grade AA with confidence.”

The Food and Drink Forum say they “appreciate that businesses still need to maintain high food management standards, train new staff in food safety, increase production capacity or examine the need to diversify into new markets and the team have useful resources that can help.” Their latest tips, resources and live support can be found by searching @foodworks_sw on social media or at www.foodworks-sw.co.uk
If you would like to find out more about the units at The Food Works SW email enquiries@foodworks-sw.co.uk or call 01934 411272.
