Thatchers Cider announce that 5,000 outlets have now signed up to its £1m pledge

Over 5,000 pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants are so far signed up to receive a free keg of Thatchers cider as part of the cider maker’s £1million Pledge in support of the hospitality industry. With the backing of leading wholesalers and pub partners, the Somerset cider maker has been able to extend the reach of its offer of a free keg of cider to many leased and tenanted outlets, alongside free trade outlets.

Over 60 wholesalers, brewers and pub partners are supporting the initiative to help get the hospitality industry back on its feet after lockdown.

“Momentum is building, and the take-up of businesses signing up for the Thatchers Pledge over the first few weeks has been really fantastic,” says Rob Sandall, director of On Trade at Thatchers Cider

“To date over 5,000 pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants have signed up to receive a free keg of Thatchers Cider supporting their reopening and putting much needed cash in their till.

“We are expecting many more operators to sign up as summer continues.”

The Thatchers Pledge is offering up to £1million of cider to support the re-opening of the hospitality industry across the UK.

Rob continues, “The response from wholesalers and pub companies has been so supportive, sending a clear message that as an industry, we are supporting UK hospitality to get back on its feet following the Covid-19 lockdown.”

With pub partners and wholesalers supporting the Pledge, it means a keg of Thatchers cider will be delivered to customers free of charge. Marston’s, St Austell, Greene King, Coors, Carlsberg, LWC, Enterprise Inns, Punch and many more are participating.

Rob continues, “We’d like to thank all partners who are joining us in supporting our stockists get back to business.”

“By giving customers across the UK who currently stock one of our draught brands, a free keg of cider, we’re hoping that this will be of great value to them financially.”

As businesses reopen, Thatchers is advising those who still have unopened kegs of cider in their cellars to check the best before dates.

“As long as the keg is within date, it will be fine to pour as usual if it has been stored in a well-maintained cellar”, adds Rob. “Any unopened kegs that are outside of the best before date will be replaced, like for like, free of charge.”

Businesses can apply for their free keg here: Thatchers Pledge.
