Sharpham Cheese unveils a new visual identity

Award-winning dairy Sharpham Cheese has unveiled a new visual identity to communicate its simple, natural approach to cheese-making. The new look has been applied to the entire range of cheeses and will be rolled out across all consumer-facing communications.
Situated on the banks of the River Dart in South Devon, the Sharpham Estate has been producing wines and cheeses for 39 years, with global recognition for its products.

Delivered by Exeter-based design agency, Buddy Creative, the brief was to create packaging that evoked emotion, delivered bags of personality and reflected the natural environment that surrounds Sharpham Cheese. The design needed to appeal to a wide range of consumers and create a renewed sense of engagement with the brand. Buddy Creative designed new labels with hand-illustrated imagery. Each label features a clear description of the cheese, tasting notes and serving suggestions.

Sharpham Cheese believes in taking wholesome dairy from its own herd and neighbouring fields, to produce cheese that’s the finest expression of the land. Buddy Creative wanted to reflect the simplicity of Sharpham Cheese’s products, so drew inspiration from the natural environment, and added rugged textures, vivid colours and playful imagery to evoke nature at its best.

David Jones from Buddy Creative says: “The previous brand design was inconsistent throughout the portfolio and needed a stylish new look to stand out. Our vibrant and eye-catching design harmonises the range and strives to capture people’s attention at the delicatessen counter.”
Greg Parsons, Managing Director of Sharpham Cheese, says: “We think the beautiful branding unifies the range and captures the essence of Sharpham perfectly. We are excited to see the brand’s latest incarnation hit the shelves.”

Supported through a new social media direction, the brand is keen to engage with a wider audience and encourage a greater understanding of the art of cheese-making.

Over the past 39 years, Sharpham Cheese has crafted a host of products that now proudly represent the best of British cheese innovation. Most recently, the dairy won UK Supreme Champion at the Global Cheese Awards (Washbourne) and British Product of the Year in the Great British Food Awards (Cremet) – an award judged by Marcus Wareing.

Home to their famous Brie, Rustic and Ticklemore cheeses, Sharpham Cheese is handcrafted with milk from their resident herd of Jersey cows, along with goat’s and ewe’s milk from their West Country neighbours.
Sharpham Cheese is available from a range of stockists nationally and online from website.
