Finally, a non-alcoholic spirit that sets an adventurous new standard in taste

‘New London Light’ (NLL) is a critically acclaimed, bold and refreshing non-alcoholic spirit setting a brave new standard in taste for Low and No Alcohol. The liquid has been created specifically by spirits experts for health-conscious drinkers who don’t want to miss out on the flavour of world class spirits.

Inspired by the quality benchmark set by the historic ‘London Dry’ gin, NLL has been developed by Master Distiller, Jason Nickels, at multi-award winning Salcombe Distilling Co. to deliver a best in class non-alcoholic spirit without compromising on flavour.

NLL is crafted by first distilling three botanicals; rich Macedonian juniper berries, ginger and habanero capsicum. Fifteen additional botanicals are blended into the base liquid delivering complex layers with hints of citrus orange and sage.

With its delicious full body, complex layers and thirst-quenching zest, NLL is already making waves in the low and no space as it looks to set a new standard in taste.

Chef Mark Hix, said: “I rarely go for a non-alcoholic option when having drinks with friends, but NLL has effortlessly raised the bar in this space with a great clarity of flavour that really shines and makes you feel that you aren’t missing out. After a few dirty NLL martinis we were hooked for the afternoon. It has made such an impression that we are adding it into our mocktail menu straight away.”

Commenting on ‘New London Light’s’ taste, Stephen Mutty, bartender at renowned London cocktail bar, Lyaness, said: “Salcombe Distilling Co.’s ‘New London Light’ is a really tasty liquid! With big flavours to back it up, it makes the most refreshing serves. What’s the real standout? Not only is the non-alcoholic spirit bangin’, they’re doing amazing stuff in regards to marine conservation, with sustainability at the forefront of their production.”

Joe Wadsack, drinks expert at ITV This Morning and Saturday Kitchen, said: “Beautifully refreshing, both full-bodied and gentle at the same time. A lovely sweet sour balance with the ‘refreshingly light’ tonic. The perfect designated driver’s grown up choice, with a whiff of Provence. Sip one of these in Cannes, and you can still drive to Nice in your Bentley drophead for dinner. Classy.”

This new spirit from Salcombe Distilling Co., located in a former boathouse close to the clear waters and wild coastline of South Devon, is inspired by Salcombe’s maritime history. Named after an iconic lighthouse marking the entrance to the best deep-water harbour in Long Island Sound, ‘New London Light’ was once a beacon for the crews of 19th century Salcombe Fruit Schooners trading cargoes of exotic fruits and spices with the new world of the Americas.

Salcombe Distilling Co.’s team is on an exciting new voyage of discovery, in the pursuit of exceptional flavours without alcohol. NLL is the first in a series that draws inspiration from a rich history of exploration and combines it with the team’s expertise in developing exceptional taste to create a spirit that means you can enjoy life’s adventures with flavour and complete clarity.

“The tide is turning. The hunt for premium non-alcoholic spirits is gathering speed, especially amongst those who demand quality and clarity” says Co-Founder and water sports enthusiast, Howard Davies. “We are proud of the reputation we have built making award-winning gins and the opportunity to encourage people to make more of the great outdoors, given our passion for the sea. It is a natural evolution for us to lead a new wave of excellence in non-alcoholic spirits.”

Taste profile
NOSE A blend of bright orange citrus, aromatic cardamom and herbaceous rosemary and sage on the nose.
PALATE An aromatic and warming balance of juniper, ginger and habanero capsicum on the palate with fragrant bitterness from sage and cascarilla bark.
FINISH The finish is long and smooth with sweet orange and star anise, lengthened with floral coriander and lemongrass.

Occasion
NLL is never restricted to just one occasion and can be enjoyed by every discerning drinker at any time of day, from dawn to dusk. It complements the healthiest of lifestyles without compromising the pleasure of enjoying a deliciously sophisticated drink.

Inspired by the historic voyages of the Salcombe Fruiters, NLL takes you on a journey of discovery, bringing you exceptional flavour and clarity of mind, wherever you are.

Health benefits
Low calorie (3kcal/100ml) and alcohol free, NLL is made with all-natural ingredients chosen principally for their flavour characteristics and complementary health benefits. Juniper, cardamom, ginger, habanero capsicum, orange, sage, cascarilla bark and lemongrass are all loaded with nutrients and bioactive compounds that have powerful benefits for your body and brain. The prominent notes of orange in the signature serve not only provide a tangy citrus top note to NLL, but its high level of vitamin C is great for your immune system. The additional garnish of sage, with its bittersweet earthiness provides an important balance to the flavour and is loaded with minerals, vitamins and antioxidants to support brain function.

‘New London Light’ by Salcombe Distilling Co. is launching on 12th September, 2020.
