Hayle’s newest beach restaurant prepares for winter season

A beach venue in Cornwall is creating a new covered seating area to run a series of firepit events for autumn and winter.

Lula, a beachside shack at North Quay in Hayle, has been hugely popular since opening in July.

The covered outdoor seating area will provide a sheltered space for people to continue dining in this seaside hotspot whatever the weather, whilst remaining a COVID-safe environment.

Lula has launched a special Sunday offering – a steam pot sharer, designed for two or more people. It will include delicious steamed shellfish, corn on the cob, and bread for dunking; a perfect seaside alternative to a traditional Sunday roast.

The new restaurant has already begun hosting firepit feasts, which sees the Lula chefs serving a wood-fired special each weekend during September.

Owner Sam Sheffield-Dunstan said: “Our feasts bring something different to the evening dining scene in Hayle. Guests really enjoy watching their food being prepared over the firepit, and many stay late into the evening listening to our live music, curled up in blankets as the sun sets.”

There are two remaining events this month, which will be held on Friday 18 and Saturday 26 September, with specials of Goan prawn curry, and shrimps and crab claws in Cajun butter.

Sam continued: “We’ve also been busy planning our festive events schedule, including a Christmas party menu, an exciting Boxing Day event titled Don’t be Shellfish, and we will be offering plenty of mulled wine and boozy coffees to be enjoyed by the fire.

“I am excited to be putting on events again, which are of course run with social distancing in mind. There is something special about the atmosphere of people coming together over a shared love of food and music, and I couldn’t think of a better place to host.”

More details about the Christmas party menu, priced at £23.00 per person, and bookings for New Year’s Eve, will be available soon via the Lula social media channels. For event enquiries, contact info@lulashack.co.uk.

Lula is open seven days a week from 9.00am to 9.30pm for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks.
