This Autumn, The Lost Gardens of Heligan will be celebrating the fruition of the Garden & Estate year with their annual Heligan Harvest Event. From Saturday 17th October to Sunday 1st November, join the Heligan Team in welcoming the season of abundance and transition.
Heligan Harvest celebrates the taste of our productive and countryside heritage in an exciting array of displays, demonstrations and autumn inspired menus. The Heligan Kitchen will be cooking up a storm of harvest inspired lunches full of seasonal produce and Heligan’s award-winning Leek & Heritage Pork Sausage will be showcased on the aptly named ‘Sausage Saturday’ on 31st October.
In the historic Kitchen Garden visitors will be encouraged to engage with Heligan’s knowledgable Productive Gardening Team and witness the art of onion stringing or seed collecting, in one of the gardener’s relaxed pop up demonstrations.
As the Gardens celebrate 30 years since discovery, Heligan’s traditional harvest display of produce will be joined by photographic displays of previous Heligan harvests, Heligan wildlife, and People & Gardens, as well as displays revealing a photographic window to its pre-restoration past.
On the Heligan Estate, families are invited to jump into the heart of the season and dive into mud, glorious mud! Mud adventures of giant puddles are being created to inspire soil connections before everyone can dry off around the firepit for some marsh mellow toasting.
Heligan’s rare breed livestock also become part of the harvest experience as resident shire horse Courage, puts on a display on harvest Saturdays, Heligan’s piglets take the stage with weekday feeding and the team are joined by local farmer Norman Delgarno for the popular working dog demonstrations.
