A charity that helps migrants, refugees and asylum seekers to share their cookery skills with people in Bristol has announced interactive cooking classes for the festive season.
Migrateful was founded in 2017 in London by Jess Thomson to empower migrant chefs, share their authentic recipes from across the world and help them on their journey to employment and independence. The charity came to Bristol in 2019 to run weekly workshops at Coexist Community Kitchen in Easton. It has moved online through the pandemic to run live cooking sessions over Zoom.
The charity works with more than 40 chefs from countries including Jamaica, Syria, Gambia, Pakistan, Albania, and Sri Lanka who will lead the virtual classes. As well as guiding the group over Zoom in cooking a festive meal together, the chef will tell their story and share expertise on their country’s cuisine.
Every gift voucher or group class purchased will fund Migrateful in its mission of helping more refugees, migrants and asylum seekers.
