New look and new name reflect provenance of Cornish gin

Colwith Farm Distillery is unveiling a new name and new look for its top selling plough to bottle gin. Harnessing the success of its Aval Dor Vodka, recognised as one of the best in the world with a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020, the single estate distillery is introducing ‘Aval Dor Gin’.

Packed full of the same sustainable, Cornish provenance and strong heritage as its namesake vodka, Aval Dor Gin was previously sold as Stafford’s Dry Gin, named for Steve Dustow’s great, great grandfather Stafford Dustow, who bought the land near Fowey that the family still farm over 100 years later. It’s the same deliciously dry, premium spirit inside the bottle but with a new name and packaging to reflect the champion vodka base spirit.

Leading with the revered Aval Dor name (Aval Dor means ‘potato’ in Cornish), Aval Dor Gin is the natural evolution for the Colwith Farm Distillery stable.

Announcing the rebrand, owner Steve Dustow said: “All gin is botanically flavoured vodka therefore it was a natural progression to name our gin after our attention-grabbing Aval Dor Vodka. The new name and branding offer a very clear nod to our farming roots and plough to bottle ethos, bringing our premium gin in line with our world-class potato vodka.”

Aval Dor Gin comes in a frosted bottle featuring the Cornish crest, with a clean and simple wrap around label. Aval Dor Vodka will mirror the new look, incorporating subtle changes to reflect the rebrand. This will be rolled out across all lines in the Colwith Farm Distillery family, which includes vanilla vodka, rhubarb and ginger gin and the latest addition, seaberry vodka made with berries from Cornwall’s first sea buck plantation.
