South West restaurants play a starring role in the new Michelin Guide with three venues earning a new Michelin star in the 2021 edition. Announced at the virtual awards ceremony on 25th January, hosted by Davina McCall, were Nathan Outlaw’s relaunched flagship restaurant Outlaw’s New Road in Port Issac, Cornwall, Osip in Bruton, Somerset and Thomas Carr 1873 in Ilfracombe, Devon.
The Michelin Green Star accolade was also introduced to recognise sustainable dining. Of the 18 restaurants and chefs who received the new accolade, six are based in the South West. They were: Coombeshead Farm in Lewannick, Daylesford Organic Farm in Daylesford, River Cottage Kitchen in Axminster, The Dining Room at Whatley Manor in Malmesbury, The Ethicurean in Wrington, and New Yard Restaurant near Helston.
