Visit Devon, one of Britain’s leading Destination Marketing and Management Organisations, is seeking to recruit an exceptional individual to lead the company through its next stage of development.
The role:
The Chair of the Board is responsible for ensuring that the Board sets the goals and direction of the organisation, leading in the recruitment and management of senior staff and overseeing progress against the Company’s objectives.
Applicants need to be able to demonstrate:
• strong strategic leadership skills and a progressive career record of achievement within the visitor economy, with the ability to lead a committed Board through a period of ongoing development;
• a clear commitment to Visit Devon’s role in promoting Devon as the destination of choice and representing the interests of the members:
• excellent communication skills and presentation skills, and experience of dealing with the media;
• that they are politically astute and adept at building productive and supportive relationships with multiple stakeholders at both local and national level.
About Visit Devon:
Visit Devon CIC was formed in March 2016, and has become recognised nationally and internationally as the marketing organisation for Devon. It has the following objectives:
(a) support businesses in the provision of tourism services with a view to helping businesses increase sustainable profits and long-term growth for the county of Devon;
(b) work with other organisations where appropriate on all matters appertaining to the tourism industry as well as nurturing partnerships with such organisations;
(c) promote trade and commerce in tourism and develop the tourism industry generally, with a view to enhancing the effectiveness and quality of tourism provision in Devon for and to the benefit of the Company, the residents of Devon, its tourists and visitors;
(d) promote and market the county of Devon as a tourist destination by all appropriate means for the economic, environmental and social benefit of everyone in the county; and
(e) to act as a voice for the members and those involved in the tourism industry in Devon.
