Andy Lennox joins forces with Nick Pestana at The Old Thatch in Wimborne

Multi-award winning restaurateur Andy Lennox has joined forces with landlord Nick Pestana and announces a joint partnership at The Old Thatch, Stapehill, Wimborne, Dorset, a 17th century pub which sits right opposite Stapehill Abbey, is just off the Castleman Trailway and which links Wimborne to Ferndown and Ringwood to Poole.

Nick has been the landlord of the pub since 2018 and during lockdown he and Andy have partnered to create a new destination which will see the Old Thatch become the centre of the community by taking the pub to the next level with a transformation into an elegant Gastro Pub, Kitchen and Country Store.

There will be an array of freshly baked bread and cakes, local meats, eggs and dairy produce as well as household essentials on offer. The Old Thatch food menu will be locally focused and we are sourcing produce from an array of suppliers from in and around Dorset – if you want to list your product here Andy and Nick urge you to get in touch. The chefs are ready & raring to get the new menus underway and the front of house team are looking forward to serving delicious food for customers old and new.

The Pub Menu will feature British inspired gastro cuisine, fresh local produce – both within the kitchen and sold at the store. The menu will include a balanced selection of butchery, seafood & veg served in a relaxed environment – everyone is welcome and serving the community will be at the heart of the menu, the provenance and the of the pub itself.

Said Nick Pestana, “You can be assured of a warm welcome, for a cold pint, a glass of wine, a local gin and tonic, artisan baking, to grab provisions from the store or enjoy a meal as we’re all set to offer it all. Our aim is to become the centre of the community for those living in and around Stapehill, Colehill, and Ferndown but you’ll still receive a warm welcome if you’re just passing through or dropping in after a long walk or cycle ride.”

Said Andy Lennox, “When we moved into the area a few years ago the pub became our local, and I’ve watched with great interest, as Nick transformed the pub with his excellent stewardship. Now with Covid-19 receding its time to take the pub to the next level. The pub will continue it’s award-winning community credentials, whilst we develop the kitchen quality, the new country store and the bakery, we cant wait to serve the first pint on 12th April.”

Nick Pestana said “These are exiting times for the Old Thatch and team, we will be ready to welcome you back for food and drinks from the 12th April”
