The popular street food market at Temple Quay in Bristol is set to return on Thursday 15th April.
With lockdown restrictions easing, and coinciding with the reopening of hospitality outlets for outdoor dining, the market will reopen as people begin to return to their places of work at Temple Quay.
With measures in place ensuring a Covid secure environment, the lunchtime market will be welcoming back some of Bristol’s best independent street food operators, including at the first market Alp Mac serving up their mac n’ cheese dishes; buttermilk chicken wings from Gurt Wings; and authentic Indian dishes from The Mango Hub; all providing delicious freshly prepared lunches.
Customers will be able to keep up to date with all stalls attending on the market’s Instagram and other social media channels.
Set in the heart of Bristol’s business district, the street food market has been closed since January, in accordance with the stay-at-home message. Some of the traders have been carrying out home-deliveries but are now set to return again every Thursday 12.00 to 2.00pm in the Temple Quay Square.
The changes introduced in September 2020 to ensure the market is safe and secure for everyone will still be in place. Fewer number of stalls will be operating, ensuring more space for queueing and customer circulation, and signs instructing 2-metre distancing will all continue.
Staff will be returning gradually to the offices over the coming weeks and months, but the market will also be welcoming loyal customers who continue to work from home, but who live within a walk or cycle ride of the market.

The market will continue on a reduced scale initially with 7 stalls, but it is hoped that as larger numbers of people return to the offices, the number of stalls gradually be able to increase.

For staff working on or near Temple Quay being able to pop out of the office to visit the street market for some food is a highlight of the working week, and as the weather is starting to warm up the chance to enjoy a socially distanced catch up outside with some delicious street food will no doubt be extremely popular.”
The market is managed on behalf of the Temple Quay community by Square Route Events, run by David Pyne and Geraldine Roul.
David says, “We’re very much looking forward to being able to reopen the market back so that the office workers in the area can once again enjoy the delicious offerings served up by our amazing street food traders. Fortunately, the vast majority have been able to survive this challenging year through providing home deliveries and occasional pop-ups. There’s nothing they like more than being at Temple Quay, so there’s a real excitement at the prospect of being able to return. We look forward to being able to welcome office workers back including those working from home who live nearby.”
