Café chain Boston Tea Party is preparing to open a huge new coffee shop in Bristol, the city they started in. The company recently closed its sites in Clifton Village and Whiteladies Road to move to a larger home in the former River Cottage Canteen site, also on Whiteladies road which closed over a year ago.
The new venue is due to open on 3rd June and will employ staff from the two closed sites. It will have space for up to 140 customers.
Brand director Anita Atkins said: “The team is busy putting the finishing touches to the new café. We are incredibly lucky to have had the chance to take on such a beautiful building, full of original features, it already feels like home.
“It is a great time to be doing something positive and we’re more than ready to get serving the local community brilliant breakfast, lunch and coffee.”
The café will serve ethically sourced food and drink including breakfast and lunch as well as speciality coffees, loose-leaf teas and homemade juices.
Boston Tea Party reported a loss of a quarter of a million pounds in 2019 as it became the first UK café chain to ban single use cups in June 2018. It will “continue the business’ pledge to the planet,” and help to remove single use plastic by continuing this policy as well as planning an upcoming carbon audit.
