Sharp’s Brewery’s new cider flows onto the market

Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery has today rolled out a new cider brand in UK pubs and bars, in partnership with Aspall Cyder House, to tap into the growing premium cider category.

Sharp’s has an established history of developing quality cider brands and for its latest launch has journeyed up-river from its Cornish estuary home to collaborate with Aspall Cyder House in Suffolk on a brand-new liquid. The resulting Sharp’s Cold River Cider combines Aspall’s expertise with Sharp’s innovative thinking to create a premium 4.5% ABV medium-dry apple cider with a light, crisp, and moreish flavour.

The brand will provide a refreshing new option in the premium cider market, which represented more than 40% of total value sales in the on-trade cider market in 2020[1].
The team at Sharp’s Brewery has an established history of award-winning, creative collaborations, working with quality producers such as Camel Valley Vineyards and Southwestern Distillery on Camel Valley Pilsner and The Hopster Gin respectively in recent years.

James Nicholls, Marketing Controller for Sharp’s Brewery, said: “Just like the river never stays still, here at Sharp’s, we’re always moving forward. Last year, we journeyed up-river from our Cornish estuary home to Aspall cyder house in Suffolk. There, after a meeting of minds between our beer sommelier, Ed Hughes, and the Aspall master cider makers, Cold River Cider was forged, fusing Aspall’s taste-making expertise with Sharp’s fresh perspectives to create this delicious new cider. In Cold River Cider, we have created something truly unique; a crisp & moreish, refreshing medium-dry apple cider, flowing with a fresh approach and refreshing look, challenging the usual design conventions of traditional ciders. Cold River Cider will really deliver for drinkers looking for something a little different but with the exceptional quality you’d expect from Sharp’s and Aspall. I can’t wait to get out there and enjoy a pint of Cold River Cider with friends this summer.”

Cold River Cider is available from today in pubs and outlets across the UK.
