Award-winning dining, retail and leisure operators BOXPARK, are opening a brand-new food hall on Bristol’s harbourside. The venue will mark the debut launch of the company’s new sibling ‘BoxHall’ concept.
Located at the O&M Sheds on Bristol’s Welsh Back Harbour, CORDWELL PROPERTY GROUP and BoxHall are set to create a vibrant and exciting waterside destination, delivering a premium, unique food and beverage offer not experienced elsewhere in the City.
With a line-up of kitchens in the food hall, BoxHall Bristol will feature only the best local and independent restaurants, street food traders and suppliers, as well as regular guest pop-ups. Highly committed to local people and produce, BoxHall will boast a carefully-selected roster of acclaimed Bristol-born chefs and generate over 100 local job opportunities.
Opening in June 2022, BoxHall Bristol is more than just a street food destination; the venue will offer an all-day social dining experience including food, drink and events all under one roof. In addition to the food offer, BoxHall will host a complementary events programme showcasing the best of Bristol’s music scene throughout the week, as well as a mix of other events including local art shows, live screenings and gaming experiences.
Together, BoxHall and Cordwell will create the most imaginative food hall interior which will capture the essence of the O&M Sheds’ historical value, as they are transformed into a stunning 20,000 sq.ft array of restaurants, bars and community spaces. The venue will also have outside seating terraces overlooking the historic floating harbour taking in waterside views towards Bristol Bridge, as well as an animated Welsh Back with seating.
Bristol’s O&M Sheds are one the last remaining undeveloped buildings from the city’s historical industrial dockyard and BOXPARK is eager to utilise the space to create a community-led social hub with its debut BoxHall site.
Opportunities for prospective tenants include turn-key kitchen solutions with turnover-only licenses, meaning they can begin trading without the barrier of vast capital outlay. BoxHall will commence tenant marketing in the later part of 2021.
BOXPARK CEO & Founder Roger Wade comments on the new development: “We are thrilled to announce our brand-new premium food hall concept launching in Bristol next year. Bristol has such a proud independent spirit and the Welsh Back makes the perfect location for a beautifully-designed modern food hall, which champions local and independent traders and suppliers. With BoxHall, we aim to offer an all-day social dining experience with food, drink and community-led events all under one roof, showcasing the best in local talent and artists. Now that we’ve signed a lease on this location, we will be working closely with CORDWELL and Macaulay Sinclair on the interior design and refurbishment.”
Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol, comments on the new addition to Bristol’s food offer: “It’s great to see an established, successful brand looking to Bristol for its next venture, in another vote of confidence for the city’s recovery from Covid-19. BoxHall looks set to be an exciting addition to Bristol’s offer, providing another location from which to showcase the huge number of independent, local food and drink companies that operate across the city. This is further investment into Bristol’s historic harbourside, just around the corner from the soon-to-be-restored Redcliffe Bascule Bridge. Following the sensitive regeneration of the site, Bristolians will be able to enjoy another top class venue that is fit for the future.”
Carly Heath, Bristol’s Night-Time Economy Czar, comments on the new addition to the City’s nightlife: “Hospitality is such a huge part of Bristol’s Night Time Economy. It’s encouraging to see ambitious organisations bring exciting new developments to the city that champion Bristol’s fantastic independent food spirit.”
CORDWELL PROPERTY GROUP, Development Director, Tom Wilcox comments on the long-awaited regeneration of O&M Sheds: “We are delighted to have signed up BoxHall for their first venture outside London, and to have finally secured a quality Food and Beverage operator who respects the historical significance of these much-valued dockside buildings and their surroundings and whose interior design proposals will complement Cordwell’s sensitive regeneration of the site to provide a unique community-based hub for the residents of Bristol. Our respective designers have worked hard to bring forward an imaginative yet sensitive scheme unlike any other offer in the City. This collaboration has allowed us to commence work in March on the refurbishment works which together with the stunning interior fitting-out to follow will deliver by June 2022, one of the most exciting venues to eat, drink and enjoy the delights of this unique City location.”
