Butcombe teams get on their bikes in support of mental health

30 team members at Butcombe Brewing Co (part of Liberation Group) have just completed a 100km one day ‘Bike to Bar’ bike ride raising money and awareness for mental health charities Mind and The Burnt Chef Project.

Jonathan Lawson, CEO, Liberation Group said: “The last 18 months have been incredibly challenging for our teams and our customers and have highlighted the importance of mental wellbeing and health.  We organised our Ride for Mind to raise awareness of the issue and specifically to raise money for two organisations, Mind and Burnt Chef Project, that do great work in this area.

“It was also a great opportunity for members of our teams from across the business to spend some time together and visit some of our fantastic pubs and teams along the way.  We had a great day, raised beyond our target and put some smiles on faces, particularly when we finished with a cold beer!”

The teams would like to thank Thatchers for all their support in feeding and watering the riders en route, for sponsoring the event and for helping with the organisation and evening event.

The circular route started off at Butcombe’s brewery in Wrington, near Bristol calling in at some of the company’s pubs along the way.

Leilah King, Fundraising and Networking Coordinator, Bristol Mind, said: “A massive thank you to Butcombe and Liberation for their fantastic 100km cycle!  We were delighted to collaborate with their team, who worked tirelessly to organise this fundraiser.  It has been an incredibly challenging time for our local community, making your support all the more impactful.  The donations raised will make a difference – it will help us reach more people. Thank you again from the team at Bristol Mind”.

Thanks to generous donations, the target of £7500 has already been raised.

Kris Hall, Founder of The Burnt Chef Project said: “We love working with the Butcombe team, it was an honour to be part of an event focused on mental health.  Those who took part deserve a special mention for their hard work and a huge thank you to Butcombe for their generosity and hospitality.”
