Purbeck Cider Co boost retail offering with launch of three new craft ciders in 330ml cans.

The Purbeck Cider Company is an independent cider producer nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset. They’re fiercely passionate about traditional orchard management and regeneration, coupled with a dedication to pioneering new and sustainable ways to bring their premium craft ciders to consumers.

Their latest creation is a range of curiously crafted sparkling ciders in 330ml cans, available in fridge friendly 6 x 330ml packs, targeting off-trade sales. The Covid pandemic brought about a surge in direct to consumer sales for Purbeck Cider, peaking at nearly 2000% up on pre pandemic levels, settling at 1400% up on average despite restrictions being lifted and the on-trade open again. This new product format will offer something refreshing and new for these consumers as well our wholesale customers operating retail businesses.

The rapid rise in popularity of canned craft beer in recent years has paved the way for premium drinks in cans, presenting an opportunity for craft cider to follow suit. The ability to communicate a brand message on a can label is especially strong, but more importantly aluminium is the most recycled form of drinks packaging in the world, with 82% of all aluminium drink cans sold in the UK in 2020 being recycled (Alupro n.d).

About the new can packs
This characterful range of blends take flavour inspiration from a selection of Purbeck Cider’s classic still ciders, modernising and developing them into craft ciders with a soft sparkle. Having previously graced bars and festivals across the south these cider enthusiast favourites offer a new way for fans to enjoy a reinvented version of their favourite tipple at home. The new can packs fill a gap in the retail market as the only premium craft cider packaged into easy grab 6 x 330ml cartons, bridging the gap between expensive individual serve products and larger value-driven packs from national brands.

The new range will launch with three blends to begin with;

  • Dandy Dab; Single variety, medium 5%.
  • Muddy Scamp; Naturally punchy, medium dry 6.8%.
  • Katy & Perry; Katy apple and Perry pear blend, medium-sweet 5.5%.

All blends are available in pre-packed 6 x 330ml cartons for retail, they make ideal fridge packs for enjoying at home, they’re also a perfect size for taking to events, parties, gatherings etc. RRP: £12.00 The full range will be available from 1st October direct from the Purbeck Cider Company.
