Unique catering job opportunity at Sandridge Barton Estate

One of the UK’s best known award-winning wineries, Sandridge Barton, the home of Sharpham Wine, is looking for an enthusiastic chef or catering company for their new on-site restaurant. This innovative multi-million pound visitor centre, complete with state-of-the-art kitchens and an indoor and outdoor restaurant, will be fully open to the public in Spring 2022.

Sandridge Barton’s chief executive and head winemaker Duncan Schwab comments: “We’re moving across the river from the Sharpham Estate where the business was based for 40 years. There have been a number of very successful cafe and restaurant operations at Sharpham, and we are in the unique position of being able to offer the most amazing opportunity to an experienced chef who wants to make a name for themselves. The high-profile location might also be of interest to an out-of-house catering team who could run the entire food operation for us.”

Duncan continued: “It really is an amazing opportunity – for a start, despite being a brand-new visitor-centre we can guarantee a busy footfall throughout the year because of our wine tours and visitors. Our tour booking slots for next year are fast filling up and if our experience at Sharpham is anything to go by that will mean between 15,000 and 20,000 visitors a year.”

If taking on an in-house team, Sandridge Barton is initially looking for a chef and front of house operations manager, but would also welcome discussions with an out-of-house catering company.

The position offers a work/life balance as a lunch-time venue with the additional income available for corporate conference facilities and other event spaces. The indoor restaurant has 35-covers as well as an attractive south-facing terrace with pergolas, conference facilities, a gallery and shop, together with three luxury holiday accommodation properties to hire. Having made the move across the river, it’s an exciting time for Sandridge Barton. To offer some great food to their visitors would quite literally represent the icing on the cake!

Anyone interested in the role should contact duncan.schwab@sandridgebarton.com.
