Gloucester Brewery hits £500,000 crowdfunding target and gets its first artist in residence

Gloucester Brewery reached its £500,000 investment target on crowdfunding platform Crowdcube on Friday 10th December.

The funds, contributed by over 760 investors, will be used for the continued development of its new Warehouse 4 waterfront bar in Gloucester Docks, which opened in September this year. The brewery plans to expand the events space, introduce a sustainable wedding venue and a taproom and self-serve bar. Their Fox’s Kiln Distillery fronts the site and they plan to open a portfolio of bars across the region, including one in Cheltenham.

Jared Brown, founder and managing director of Gloucester Brewery, said: “Today we have reached our £500,000 target. We are absolutely over the moon. I would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to everyone who has got involved. Welcome to the family.”

He added: “We want to establish ourselves as one of the leading independent eco-friendly breweries and distilleries in the UK by producing high quality, progressive beers and spirits.”

The news comes as Gloucester Brewery also announced its first artist in residence. Former local tradesman Russell Haines will exhibit his work in a small gallery at Warehouse 4 as part of a plan to support creativity in the city. Haines took up art as therapy after suffering a stroke and paints expressionist-style pieces. Several artists will be showcased over the next 12 months as part of a rolling programme.
