Plymouth based Burts Snacks, is celebrating selling 5.8 million Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) charity crisp packs during the second half of 2021. In order to help support the lifeboat charity, the new partnership between the snacking business and the RNLI was established in June 2021.
Over the course of two years, Burts is set to support the charity through sales of its crisps and fundraisers as well as helping raise awareness of how to enjoy the outdoors safely, and in particular, how to stay safe at the beach. The RNLI packs were launched in 100 stores across the South West including ASDA, Morrisons, Tesco, Co-op and RNLI shops in 2021.
Dave McNulty MD of Burts Snacks said “To educate beach goers on the dangers of the sea, RNLI branding was introduced on Burts crisp packs. We’re delighted to have raised money for such a great charity and are excited to continue our partnership into 2022”.
Founded in Plymouth in 1997, Burts is passionate about the South West and inspiring its customers to enjoy the great outdoors, including the region’s popular beaches.
As a British family-owned brand, the company is incredibly proud of its heritage and success in the coastal South West region of England, which made the partnership with the RNLI – a perfect fit.
Alice Dewsnap, Senior Partnerships Manager at the RNLI added: “The South West has some of the country’s most beautiful coastal areas and we encourage everyone to get outside and enjoy the space. The RNLI’s lifeboat crews and lifeguards hard work continues over the winter, with more severe weather making our seas and coastlines more dangerous.”
