It is good news for food lovers and job seekers as Al Molo announce their expansion into Dorchester with the opening of an additional restaurant, Al Molo Ristorante Di Pesce, in the historic Judge Jeffery building on High West Street.
Co-owners Giuseppe Vannucci and Tim Newton, recently secured the lease on the Dorchester premises and are eager to breathe life into the stunning architecture of the listed 17th century Judge Jeffrey’s lodgings, which contains two Jacobean rooms, Tudor fireplaces and is one of the few surviving timber-framed buildings in the town.
The refurbishment work has already been commissioned with the aim of opening the doors this Spring.
Al Molo was launched in 2015, transforming Weymouth’s Pier Bandstand into a destination for wonderful Italian food. Co-owners Tim Newton and Giuseppe Vannucci swiftly achieved national recognition from the Italian Chamber of Commerce with the “Marchio Ospitalità Italiana“ seal of quality award and last year took the coveted Gold Award for ‘Restaurant Of The Year’ at the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards.
Building on that success, their new restaurant, Al Molo Dorchester, will move away from their traditional Italian focus to bring fresh locally caught fish to the forefront of the menu.
Giuseppe Vannucci, Co-owner of Al Molo, explains, “I am excited to take the Executive Chef role in our new restaurant and have some wonderful ideas for the new menu, expect the best of Al Molo with a new direction!”

With Giuseppe’s move to Dorchester, the head chef role in the Weymouth restaurant will be filled by the talented Fabio Guasco. Fabio’s promotion comes after several years of dedication to the Al Molo culinary programme as Sous Chef and previous expansive experience which includes fine restaurants in Genoa, 5* Dorchester hotel in London and working alongside Giuseppe in his previous restaurant Bacco, London.
Co-owner Tim Newton said, “We are thrilled to bring a new dining experience to Dorset’s County Town in such a stunning and famous building, as we expand our footprint across Dorset. We are looking forward to welcoming guests when the doors open this Spring”.
Employment will be boosted in the local area with new job openings for an additional 10 team members.
