A Lincolnshire businessman who has holidayed with his family in Cornwall for over three decades has purchased the hotel they return to year-in-year-out, Polurrian on the Lizard.
Travel Sector Property Limited (TSPL) has concluded its off-market acquisition of Hotel Polurrian Limited, owner of the freehold interest in Polurrian on the Lizard at Mullion in Cornwall and its surrounding 12 acres of grounds, inclusive of part of the Polurrian Cove beach.
Andrew Long, Principal Director of TSPL said: “We are delighted to have acquired the Polurrian, which has many happy memories for my family and I since first discovering this wonderful location some 32 years ago. We are proud to own this iconic hotel and to further endorse our Cornwall connections, with regular visits for business and pleasure each year”.
This is a going concern transaction and all employees at the Polurrian, including the General Manager, Grant Callaghan, will continue to be employed. The new owners have also entered into a management agreement with the vendor group, Luxury Hotel Management Limited under the helm of Nigel Chapman, well established and highly experienced hoteliers.
Andrew Long is a co-founder of the Extra Motorway Services Areas Group, where he continues to be CEO and an ongoing investor. He has some 35 years of property and operational experience in the hospitality and roadside sectors and has a number of exciting plans for further investment in the Polurrian to enhance the existing facilities.
Nigel Chapman, Principal of Luxury Hotel Management said: “We are delighted to be working jointly with Andrew and his team. It’s great to see the next chapter for the Polurrian successfully unfolding and to know that there will be a significant further investment into this much-loved hotel.”
Polurrian on the Lizard first opened in 1912 and benefits from an exceptional elevated location with views across Mounts Bay and Mullion Island. The 41-bedroom property has an excellent reputation both nationally for holiday guests and within the local community, which Andrew Long and the on-site management team would like to further enhance, including the ongoing involvement of ‘Friends of Polurrian Cove’ and other local groups in Mullion and the surrounding Lizard area.
The hotel’s communal areas were refurbished in 2019, creating a stylish and relaxing environment. The Polurrian benefits from the bright and airy Vista Lounge with its captivating ocean views, a decadent bar area, restaurant with Gozney wood-fired oven, snug and games room, spa, gym and pool. There are also six spacious self-catering villas available to book.
