Free workplace emotional wellbeing training to hospitality businesses across Somerset

Somerset based wellbeing company New Leaf is working with Somerset Public Health to deliver free workplace emotional wellbeing training to hospitality businesses across Somerset.

The focus is on supporting those who have been impacted by Covid-19 through the virus itself, experience of lockdown or the impact of the recession. With a small series of funded workshops for SMEs, micro providers and sole traders planned throughout the year, the first two take place in March.

A free half day online Mental Health Awareness course will give you an understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma. You’ll complete the course with a basic knowledge of some common mental health issues and understand how to look after your own mental health and maintain wellbeing. It will also give you the confidence to offer support to someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.

This course takes place on Thursday 24th March 10.00am – 2.00pm. Bookings are limited so book your free place now

Also taking place in March, Tuesday 22nd (10.00am – 1.00pm) is Wellbeing at Work. This is an exclusive workshop on how to support your own wellbeing and the wellbeing of your team.

For more information and bookings go HERE.

Why have these courses been developed?

Somerset’s economy is predominantly made up of small businesses: 76% of the County’s businesses have fewer than 5 employees and a further 13% have 5-9 employees. SMEs are the backbone of our economy, it’s a sector bursting with talent, entrepreneurship, and potential. It is also one of the worst performing in terms of employee health outcomes, with one-third of SME employees experiencing a mental health problem during their working life (CIPD, 2016). Somerset Public Health have contracted New Leaf to deliver workplace emotional wellbeing and support for small and medium size businesses.
