Choice cocktails from the South West for World Cocktail day

With World Cocktail Day on the 13th of May, we have collated a list of recipes from a selection of companies in the South West to provide inspiration for every preference. Ranging from simple to complex, this list invites the adventurous but also respects the traditionalists, serving as a helping hand to all for a day of high spirits. We’ve included non-alcoholic options for the increasing number of us opting for non-alcoholic drinks.

Tarquin’s Cornish Basil Smash
Ingredients
• 50ml Tarquin’s Dry Gin
• 25ml Lemon Juice
• 15ml Sugar syrup
• 5 Fresh large Basil Leaves

Method
• Muddle the basil leaves with the lemon juice in the bottom of a shaker
• Add the rest of the ingredients to a shaker with lots of ice
• Shake hard until deeply chilled
• Double strain into a tumbler filled with fresh ice
• Garnish with a single large basil leaf/sprig and a lemon wheel

Tarquin’s Cornish Sunshine Spritz
Ingredients
• 50ml Tarquin’s Blood Orange Gin
• 60ml Sparkling Wine
• 100ml Fever Tree Soda Water

Method
• Build over ice in a large wine glass.
• Add the gin, followed by Sparkling wine and soda water to top.
• Garnish with an Orange Wedge or Wheel.

Spiced Rum and Coffee Old Fashioned from Artisan Coffee Co.
Ingredients
• 40ml Rum
• 15ml Artisan cold brew concentrate
• 10ml Spiced Muscovado syrup
• 4x Dashes bitters
• 1x Long orange twist

Method
• Pour the ingredients into the shaker with large ice cubes and shake.
• Stain into a highball filled with large ice cubes.
• Finish with a large orange twist.

To make a more traditional Old Fashioned, replace the rum with 60ml bourbon and remove the spices from the Muscovado syrup recipe

Espresso Martini from Artisan Coffee Co.
Ingredients
• 100g sugar
• 50ml water

Method
• Place the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled half with ice and shake.
• Double stain into a small glass.

Mocha-tini from Artisan Coffee Co.
Ingredients
• 40ml Chocolate Sea Salt vodka
• 15ml coffee liquor
• 10ml Artisan cold brew concentrate
• 1 lemon

Method
• Place the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled half with ice and shake.
• Double stain into a small glass.
• Gently spritz the lemon over the drink and serve.

Non-Alcoholic Serves:

Pentire Garden by the Sea
Ingredients
• 50ml Pentire Adrift
• 50ml fresh organic apple juice
• Teaspoon of raw honey
• Splash of soda water

Method
• Pour the ingredients listed above into a highball glass or wine glass fill of ice
• Garnish with a slice of apple

Pentire Grapefruit Spritz
Ingredients
• 75ml Pentire Seaward
• 50ml Fresh Grapefruit Juice
• 1 tsp Honey
• 100ml Soda Water or Light Tonic

Method
• Pour the ingredients listed above into a highball glass or wine glass fill of ice
• Garnish with grapefruit or a bay leaf

Pentire Gimlet
Ingredients
• 50ml Pentire Adrift
• 25ml Fresh Lime Juice
• Bar spoon of Maple Syrup
• 3 Bay Leaves

Method
• Pour the ingredients listed above into a highball glass or wine glass fill of ice
• Garnish with a Bay leaf
