With headline sponsor Shorefield Holidays, this year’s festival is jam-packed with chef demos, local food traders, live entertainment and refreshing drinks over the bank holiday weekend – this year is set to be the best yet.
Christchurch Food Festival has been running for over 20 years, attracting huge crowds to the picturesque harbour town on the beach-lined Dorset coast, all eager to enjoy the remarkable food and drink of the South West.
Last year saw the festival back after the pandemic and showcased a safe and secure event which was enjoyed by many from far and wide, and they are thoroughly looking forward to being back this year celebrating so many wonderful things and especially the Jubilee.

They thank BCP and Christchurch Town Council for fully supporting the event and working with them to make it happen. They’re also delighted to announce new sponsorship partners – the headline sponsor Shorefield Holidays, whose support is crucial in allowing them to continue this free community event and also Maple from Canada who with their chef ambassador James Golding are on a mission to share some maple magic…. James says “Maple is such an incredible ingredient, you can use it in everything from cakes and desserts to BBQ marinades and vinaigrettes. It’s also sustainably farmed and is totally natural. I’m hoping to recruit as many maple fans as possible in Christchurch during the festival weekend!”
Old friends Conker Spirits are back this year and will be supplying all the bars with their Dorset Gin, Bowser alcohol free spirit and Cold Brew Coffee Liqueur.
Following on from last years’ the event, the festival will be located exclusively on the beautiful grassy Christchurch Quay and Quomps, overlooking the River Stour, and kicks off on Thursday 2nd June until Sunday 5th June.
Working with local food groups, Dorset Food and Drink and Hampshire Fare, the event will showcase and celebrate some of the best small food and drink producers from the region as well as street food, local breweries and distilleries, and a host of entertainment.
Last year, chefs James Golding and Dhruv Baker enjoyed the event so much that they are back and have brought a host of their friends including Mark Hix, Richard Bertinet, Ulrika Jonnson, Sam & Shauna, Brian Turner, Morgan McGlynn and Perry Wakeman. This fabulous line-up is complimented by some of our finest local chefs including Luke Hallam, Colin Nash and Simon Hallam so you can expect great cooking, helpful tips and a lot of fun.
The Entertainment stage has a full line up of talent, with music including Six & Sax, David Mein, Brad as Elvis, Grace and Spin Out UK. We have some great local choirs, theatre groups and dance groups including The Fifinellas, Mad4Dance and BBLOC and all throughout the festival there will be a huge LED screen showing highlights of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. The fabulous Sheep Show, a series of Jubilee celebrations including the Royal British Legion Band Christchurch means that this will be a thoroughly jam-packed weekend.

With its fantastic lineup of foodie fun, family activities and grassy waterside setting, the festival is a perfect day out and if you fancied treating yourself and making a weekend of it, the Captains Club Hotel is an excellent choice, perfectly situated by the water with easy access to the festival.
The festival also supports the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust which focuses on promoting healthy eating in local schools and a special deal with the Yellow Buses company hopes to reduce visitors’ carbon footprint and encourage more sustainable travel too, something which is incredibly important to us.
Whichever way you get there, make sure you put the 2nd – 5th June in your diary and don’t miss one of the biggest food festivals in the country!
