Respected Somerset cider maker Rich’s is opening a new farm shop at its site in Watchfield, Highbridge on 28th June. Rich’s Farm Shop will stock a range of locally produced products including fresh fruit and veg, clothing and hardware as well as a butchery and deli counter with fresh meats from Pyne’s of Somerset.
A cider tasting bar will allow visitors to taste all the varieties of Rich’s cider before they buy. A hot and cold food counter will serve accompanying snacks.
Rich’s Cider Farm, established in 1954, is also home to the 70-seater Cider Press restaurant. Holding a 4.5 star rating on Tripadvisor, it serves fresh, locally sourced home-cooked food and recently won an award from Sedgemoor County Council, recognising their disability access. The whole site is disabled-friendly including the shop, toilets and restaurant.
Rich’s Cider general manager Molly Scott said: “Across the yard from the Cider Press Restaurant, the Farm Shop at Rich’s Cider creates an ideal family destination where you can explore the cider museum, see the historic working vats and shop with views across the apple Orchard.
“This is an exciting time here at Rich’s and establishes a new and exciting retail venue for the local area. We have created several new jobs for local people and the new shop will provide local residents with unique products and an alternative to the supermarkets.”
The new farm shop will open on 28th June and will operate from 9.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday and 10.00am to 6.00pm on Sundays.
