Sharp’s Doom Bar wins Best Drink Product at the Food Reader Awards 2022

The team at Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery was delighted to win ‘Best Drink Product’ at the Food Readers Awards 2022 on the evening of June 27th. The results were revealed after over 10,000 nominations and votes were cast as readers rushed to show their support for their favourite West Country food propositions.

For almost a decade, the Food Reader Awards have championed the South West’s best independent food and drink businesses. The grand finalists were invited to a ceremony at Winslade Manor near Exeter on June 27th where the winners were revealed.

As one of the award sponsors, Sharp’s regional on-trade manager, Dan Frost was in attendance to present the award for Best Chef to Harriet Mansell of Robin Wylde. The evening featured a stunning four-course feast from Winslade Manor’s chef director Matt Mason, with each course expertly matched with beers from Sharp’s Brewery as well as wines from Ellis Wines.

Sharp’s is the largest brewer of cask beer in the South West, and Doom Bar is probably the most successful cask beer of its generation as well as currently being the UK’s no.1 cask beer brand *.

Sharp’s head brewer, Aaron McClure, shared his delight, “I am immensely proud that Doom Bar has won yet another accolade. We consider winning any award testament to the people, passion and quality processes which contributes to great beer, all of which we pride ourselves on here at Sharp’s. The Food Reader Awards are a fantastic showcase of the South West’s exceptional food and drink offerings and it is great to be able to celebrate this again. We would like to thank everyone that voted for Doom Bar, it means the world to us.”

Food Magazine editor, Kathryn Lewis commented, “Sharp’s Brewery and all the finalists exemplify the groundbreaking food and drink businesses we have in the South West.  It was a fabulous evening and we’re thrilled that Sharp’s will now join our list of previous winners which includes the likes of Nathan Outlaw, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Rick Stein.”

All of Sharp’s Brewery’s award-winning beers can be purchased from the brewery’s online shop and delivered anywhere in the mainland UK. To shop online, visit: www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk/sharps/shop.
