The team at Sharp’s Brewery in Rock has just released its latest limited-edition beer, brewed in its pilot plant. Land and Sea IPA is a unique beer, infused with cucumber and lime and created in collaboration with the team at The Mariners pub, just down the road in Rock.
The brief from The Mariners team was to create a delicious IPA that would serve as the ideal pairing to ‘The Dogs Pollock’, one of the pub’s signature dishes, comprising a crisp pollock hot dog, pickled cucumber, triple mustard, dill, parmesan, and salty skinny fries.
From the initial brainstorming session, the team set to work discussing and sampling beers of varying bitterness and colour to create a beer which would prove a delicious partner for this much-loved dish.
The resulting beer is a a 4.7% ABV IPA with the addition of chopped cucumber and lime peel to give it a lovely fresh and zesty flavour. Land and Sea IPA is brewed with Citra, Mosaic and Magnum hops that give an extra blast of citrus to this refreshing pint, perfect for the summer season. The base of lager and wheat malt provide provides the perfect combination of flavours to delight and surprise beer fans this summer.
Sharp’s Brewery’s head brewer, Aaron McClure said, “We have had lots of fun making Land and Sea IPA. It has been a really enjoyable project and we love loved working with The Mariners’ team again, who came to the brewery to help us brew and really got stuck in. Land and Sea IPA is best enjoyed with the Dogs Pollock at The Mariners, of course, but if you are not going to be in Cornwall this summer, then it is available while stocks last from our online shop.”
Land and Sea IPA is available and on sale now, in mini casks from the brewery shop and at a few select outlets in Cornwall. For more information or to purchase a mini cask, please see Sharp’s Brewery’s website at: www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk.
