A leading luxury holiday home company in Cornwall is nominated for an internationally recognised travel industry award – for the third time. Cornish Gems is shortlisted as a finalist in the UK Self Catering / Holiday Cottage Company 21/22 category in the prestigious 2021/2022 British Travel Awards (BTAs). The winner will be determined by the public, who have until October 2nd to vote.
The British Travel Awards are considered the largest and most influential, independent poll of consumer opinion on the performance of leisure travel and tourism providers. The last BTA’s, in 2020, saw over 400,000 people voted for their favourite businesses, in over 50 categories.
This year Cornish Gems is going for gold, hoping to represent Cornwall and compete against the very best self-catered companies from across the UK. Following two successful previous wins at the BTA’s.
In 2019 Cornish Gems won gold, having been crowned the Best (Southern) UK Holiday Cottage Company – and were awarded Silver in the Best UK Holiday Cottage Company category nationally in 2020.
To support the BTAs campaign to encourage public voting, Cornish Gems has donated a luxury three-night holiday at Whipsy, a modern and stylish apartment overlooking the sea at Porth in North Cornwall – which is being auctioned online, alongside other impressive prizes, in the Awards’ Voters Prize Draw.
The Cornish business, founded by co-managing directors Julianne Shelton and Nadia Macer-Wright, offers a luxury collection of over 200 beautifully appointed properties across Cornwall – and this year celebrates its 15th anniversary. Since launching in 2007 Cornish Gems is now nationally renowned as the go-to for luxury holidays in Cornwall, employs over 100 local people and were recently named in the Top 20 Best Places to Work in Travel.
Commenting on the nomination, Julianne Shelton, co-managing director at Cornish Gems, says: “We’re immensely proud to have been nominated for the British Travel Awards again this year. A welcome piece of exciting news as we move on from an exceptionally challenging couple of years for the travel industry. We work incredibly hard to deliver the highest standards and we’re so thankful to our loyal customers and hardworking team, to us this nomination is as much about them as it is Cornish Gems. We hope that the Cornish business and local communities, alongside our guests and customers, will support us by voting for Cornish Gems in this prestigious award.”
The British Travel Awards are considered the benchmark for excellence when it comes to finding out who really is the best in the travel industry. For more information about Cornish Gems visit www.cornishgems.com or to vote visit www.cornishgems.com//offers/british_travel_awards.html.
