Sharp’s Brewery scoops five international beer awards

Rock-based Sharp’s Brewery puts Cornwall on the world stage as the team takes home five medals from two major international industry award bodies this month. This includes a gold medal for the brewery’s already highest-awarded product, Chalky’s Bite at the esteemed World Beer Awards 2022.

Chalky’s Bite was created after chef Rick Stein challenged Sharp’s to create a Cornish beer with the character and quality to stand alongside established Belgian ales. Named in honour of Rick’s infamous four-legged friend, Chalky the Jack Russell, who used to accompany the chef on his culinary adventures, it has now claimed multiple international brewing awards. This year, it has added to its trophy cabinet with a gold medal in the Belgian Style Ale category.

Sharp’s Offshore Pilsner was awarded bronze by a panel of industry experts in the World Beer Awards. Born on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, this pilsner is inspired by those rare moments when the wind turns offshore and hardy surfers are able to catch the perfect wave. It features the perfect balance of continental hops and Czech yeast, giving it a clean, uniquely refreshing taste.

The UK’s bestselling Amber Ale, Doom Bar, also earned a bronze medal, as did Atlantic Pale Ale, completing a very successful run for the Cornish brewer.

The World Beer Awards is globally recognised, selecting the very best of thousands of beers from all over the world and promoting these to consumers and trade across the globe.

Meanwhile, Sharp’s Atlantic Pale Ale also picked up a bronze star in the Traditional Style Pale Ale category at the internationally renowned European Beer Star Awards. The European Beer Star Awards is open to commercial breweries from across the continent, with an expert jury of globally recognised beer and industry experts.

Marketing controller at Sharp’s Brewery, James Nicholls said, “Here at the brewery in Rock, we are all delighted to have achieved such strong success on an international level at these different awards. We have been judged by some of the best beer experts in the world against the top-tier products globally. I would like to thank everyone involved in brewing and packaging these beers for their hard work and dedication to quality.”

All of these products are available now through Sharp’s Brewery’s online shop. To find out more about the brewery and its products, visit the website at: www.sharpsbrewery.co.uk.
