Sharp’s Brewery is delighted to sponsor the inaugural Newquay Mini Fish Festival. The event, run by The Boathouse, is due to occur over two days on the 10th and 11th September. Sharp’s will be providing all the beer and cider. This means that festival goers can enjoy a range of Sharp’s products alongside a selection of food from Cornwall’s finest seafood providers.

This year, the festival will be run out of The Boathouse, a well-established restaurant in Newquay harbour that sells seafood in a contemporary street food style. The event will see Jo Ruxton MBE, founder of the environmental organisation Ocean Generation, doing a talk on the importance of ocean conservation. Jo has produced films such as A Plastic Ocean and she worked on Sir David Attenborough’s Blue Planet. In addition to Jo, the Newquay Mini Fish Festival schedule will feature appearances from multiple chefs, including eco-chef Tom Hunt who will be demonstrating sustainable seafood cooking techniques.
Beer lovers can expect to see Sharp’s classics at this bar, such as the UK’s no.1 cask ale brand Doom Bar, Atlantic Pale Ale, and a very special limited-edition. Alongside premium cask ales, there will be cooking demos and live music running throughout, with performances from the mesmerising Newquay Merpod providing merfolk interactions.
Aaron McClure, Sharp’s Brewery’s head brewer, said, “Living in Newquay myself, I was really pleased to hear that the Fish Festival was going to happen this year, albeit in a mini capacity. We’re really looking forward to bringing our cask ales along and making the most of the entertainment on offer.”
Louise Morey of The Boathouse said, “We are really happy to have Sharp’s sponsor the Newquay Mini Fish Festival. It is quite the task setting up and running the event ourselves this year, so the help from Sharp’s is greatly appreciated. Festival goers of previous years can expect a similar experience of food, drink, and joy, only having it based around the Boathouse itself and not the entire harbour means that it will be more intimate.”
