Ruth, Daisy, and Chloe have known each other for God knows how many years and had been planning to work together setting up a distillery for some time. It ended up being the upheaval of lockdown during the summer madness that was 2020 that galvanised them into action; their shared knowledge and experience in cheffing, recipe development, food science, alcohol production and design went into creating Loveday.
Their goal has been to create spirits with a meticulous eye on craftmanship, vibrant, utterly delicious flavours using fresh and foraged ingredients, with a clean, unfussy, modern look and feel. They make their spirits with enjoyment in mind – unhurried get-togethers with favourite company and a glass of something darn delicious in hand is how they recommend getting acquainted with their gin.
They launched their first offering in April 2021: Loveday Falmouth Dry, and It’s been pretty non-stop since! An incredibly busy first Christmas season coincided with the release of their second gin: Loveday Golden Hour. A bittersweet, aromatic and subtly floral delicious thing that won them a Taste of the West Gold in 2022 and then was awarded Taste of the West Champion Wines, Sprits and Liqueurs for 2022.
Daisy commented: “Taste of the West is an utterly brilliant community to be a part of. We have connected with lots of other producers through our membership, and our products getting a nod from this well-respected institution has been reassuring and incredibly helpful!”
