Porthleven Food Festival launches new ‘Feasts at The Net Loft’ for 2023

The award-winning Porthleven Food Festival reveals a new series of ‘Feasts at The Net Loft’ with acclaimed British Chefs in a brand-new experiential addition to the 2023 foodie programme.

Tickets are now on sale, for the feasts taking place over the festival weekend (April 21st-23rd), featuring guest dishes from acclaimed chefs Jude Kereama, Guy Owen, and Andrew Tuck – who’ve all competed on the BBC Two TV programme Great British Menu.

Hosted by Rupert Cooper of the Philleigh Way Cookery School, the Friday and Saturday night feasts and the Sunday Lunch feast take place in the newly repurposed Net Loft – a beautiful building with rustic charm and incredible harbour-views.

Expect communal dining with a convivial atmosphere, across the three exciting new foodie experiences. Showcasing menus, using only the best locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, with innovative dishes offering a delicious serving of Cornish cuisine.

And for the Friday and Saturday Feast nights, optional wine flights are also available from esteemed sommelier and wine educator Elly Owen.

Friday 21st & Saturday 22nd April: Feast Nights at The Net Loft 7.00pm (please see website for costs)
To start, Andrew Tuck, who’s currently representing the Southwest in the 2023 series of the competitive TV cookery show offers a black and blue onglet dish to the feast table – joining slow cooked Catalan style charred octopus, grilled asparagus with Cornish Yarg dressing, wild pesto and sourdough crackers.

Guy Owen brings BBQ Hispi cabbage, with feta and onion, and Jude Kereama’s Kota Kai pork Char Siu with grilled Asian greens are some of the main course attractions. Joining Spring vegetable orzo with mojo Verde and smoked onions, roasted potatoes with confit garlic, plus bread, truffle butter and dips. Before Rhubarb and Cornish Fairing Cheesecake – served with roasted rhubarb with stem ginger & Curio gin.

Sunday 23rd April: Sunday Lunch Feast 1.00pm (please see website for costs)
The festival, in partnership with Rupert Cooper, is offering a wholesome Sunday Lunch Feast in the Net Loft. Made with family and inclusivity in mind, tickets are subsidised thanks to huge support from suppliers Total Produce and Brian Etherington’s Butchers.

It’s a roll-up-your-sleeves and get stuck in type affair, with a relaxed carvery style service, and a menu of spring minestrone soup, smoked roast pork, stuffing, cider gravy and roasted vegetables – and Rhubarb and fruit crumble, served with Rodda’s Clotted Cream for pudding.

The new feast experiences add to the festival’s annual celebrations which seeks to showcase Cornwall’s leading food and drink producers, stimulate the local economy, and raise awareness of key issues relating to the environment, food culture and sustainable food production.

Attendees can tuck into a full weekend of entertainment including brilliant chef demos, live music, family-friendly activities, evening sessions and much more – in a whole town takeover.
