Chickpea Group co-founder Ethan Davids and The Immersive Group co-owner Dave Hancock are teaming up with brewers Lyall Dew and Joe Robinson to found Rude Giant Brew Co. Already supplying some local pubs and restaurants, Rude Giant will go back to basics to “make beer for all palates”.
Head brewer Dew, formerly at Sixpenny Brewery, said: “Since the age of 16, I have been brewing cider with apples from my parent’s garden and making homebrew in university dorms and airing cupboards. Brewing using local crushed malts and whole-leaf hops still inspires my brewing today. Rude Giant is built on the belief that you don’t need to be a connoisseur or critic to love good, tasty beer.”
Robinson’s family farm will house the brewery alongside the existing Blonde Brothers, which he also runs. Davids co-owns Chickpea Group with business partner Tommy Tulis and his sister, Jordan Davids. Their South West portfolio includes five pubs and a pizza shop. The team is completed by Hancock, who co-owns The Immersive Group. This collection of five hospitality brands based in Salisbury includes Mexican restaurant Tinga, parlour bar Caboose, pop-up bar Frost, deacons pub and the Salisbury City Garden Bar.
Rude Giants beer includes: “Rude Best (cask) – 3.9% moreish, traditional bitter with a delicate balance of hoppy bitterness and malty backbone; Rude Pale Ale (cask) – 3.6% golden ale. Full and rounded hop character with an ABV that suits summer, pub garden drinking; Session Pale Ale (keg) – 4.3% session strength Pale Ale. Fruity and smooth with a crisp bite that will leave you wanting more; and Rude Lager (keg) – 4.5% Crisp, pilsner-inspired lager. Gentle and smooth malt lingers behind a clean and thirst-quenching finish.”
