A boutique bar restaurant near Stockleigh Pomeroy has re-opened after receiving a major makeover during the first part of the year.
Dominic Jones, in collaboration with his mother Sandie, spearheaded the redesign efforts, resulting in a space that embodies their shared vision. He says, “It’s been a real labour of love and I’m delighted we’ve now opened the doors to reveal the results of all the hard work.”
The venue boasts three distinct themed areas: Aquarius Bar, Amazon Lounge, and Atlantean Lounge. Each space exudes a unique ambiance, from the celestial-inspired bar to the lush greens of the jungle and the serene blues of the sea in the two lounges. An array of locally sourced ingredients is on offer: Aquarius Bar’s choices include sharing dishes and classic favourites such as sustainably sourced scampi and Devon steak burgers whilst Amazon Lounge offers a grazing menu featuring delectable charcuterie and West Country cheeses. The Atlantean Lounge caters to fine dining enthusiasts with enticing dishes such as St Austell mussels, Brixham hake, Devon sausage pappardelle, and charred cauliflower.
As well as devising the menus, Dominic is also a cocktail devotee and there’s an impressive choice on offer, from classic drinks like mojito and pina colada to Dominic’s unique ‘Cosmic Cocktails’ range based around star signs. A multitude of West Country produced spirits includes Cornish rum and Salcombe gin, plus ciders and ales from local producers such as Hanlon’s and Sandford Orchards. There’s also an extensive wine list with plenty of organic options.
Aquarius Bar is part of a wider family run business on Kitlake Farm. Founded by Sandie and husband Howard in 2010, it includes specialist retailer Wishes, the largest crystal stockist in Devon. With a temple room for meditation, plus treatment rooms for therapies including Swedish massage, rehabilitative massage, Sekhem elemental balancing, enriching facials and crystal healing, retreats, spa weekends and stunning views across the Exe Valley, it’s the perfect destination for anyone interested in mindfulness and wellbeing.
In keeping with the overarching ethos of the family, the entire Kitlake Farm site is designed to be carbon neutral. Besides environmentally friendly commitments including solar panels, cruelty free cleaning and washing products, responsibly sourced paper, eco kettles and the use of recycled materials where possible, the business’s carbon footprint is offset through supporting tree planting and humanitarian projects with the Ecologi organisation.
