Tierra and Mar’s Luis Paladines is the new king of cocktails in Cirencester after winning the annual Cirencester Cocktail Competition.

The competition, which was held for the second time this year, challenged some of the best mixologists from the town’s bars and restaurants to showcase their skills and creativity with their stirrers and shakers. Luis claimed the crown from last year’s winner – Ryan Walters of Ingleside Hotel and Téatro Restaurant.
The event took place at Ingleside Hotel and Téatro Restaurant, where Luis faced off against Alex O’Hara of Sam and Jak and newcomer, George Tomblin of Cirencester Park Polo Brasserie.

The judges for the competition were Wood Bros, a distillery from Bampton that provided their gin, vodka and vermouth for the contestants to use in their cocktails, Darryl Greenaway, a hairdresser and stylist from DG Haus salon in Cirencester, and Jono Rooke, a hospitality PR consultant.
“Luis’s cocktail was delicious,” said Drew Paterson of Wood Bros. “In fact they all were but this one just pipped it. We are hoping we get asked to judge next years cocktails too!”
Luis said: “I have named it the L.P Sunrise and it will go onto the menu at the restaurant. It was a blend of a homemade syrup of chilli and citrus, guava juice, drops of bitters, amoretto, white rum and fresh mint.”
