Sharp’s Brewery brought Solar Wave to the Rock Oyster festival, for a Rock, Cornwall, homecoming celebration

North Cornwall-based Sharp’s Brewery has been bringing the beer, cider and good vibes to its neighbouring Rock Oyster Festival since its rebirth a few years ago. This year, the brewery team was delighted to give a homecoming celebration for its newest hazy IPA beer, Solar Wave, at the event. The beer is already pouring across pubs and bars in Cornwall and the rest of the country. The team also debuted its special Solar Wave CHAT IPA Cornish edition of their legendary Silent Bistro at the festival where many eventgoers enjoyed a unique Cornish beer and food pairing journey.

The boutique four-day event took place from 27th – 30th July 2023, on the banks of the Camel Estuary. Scores of festivalgoers enjoyed mouth-watering food from Michelin Star-awarded chefs and music from legends such as Nile Rogers + Chic, Groove Armada and Sophie Ellis-Bexter. The unique festival also hosted a life-enriching adventure and wellbeing programme.

Amongst the high points of Rock Oyster Festival was Sharp’s Brewery’s Solar Wave CHAT IPA edition of their Silent Bistro – which made its official Cornish debut at the event. Here guests were able to take a seat, grab a beer, don some headphones and tune into the sounds, flavours and aromas in a new and intriguing way. Bistro-goers were lucky enough to watch their house chef at work, whilst Sharp’s expert beer sommelier, Ed Hughes paired the dishes with their award-winning portfolio of brews.

Over the main three July days and nights, multiple stages hosted many great acts and there was much family-friendly entertainment and fun. For 2023, Sharp’s Brewery brought along its range of award winning beer and cider, including new Hazy IPA, Solar Wave, Doom Bar, Offshore Pilsner, Cold River Cider, Chalky’s Bite, Atlantic Pale Ale, Sea Fury and a new microbrew created specifically for the festival, Pacific Oyster Extra Pale Ale, which was available at the new Rock Oyster Festival Craft Bar.

A host of delicacies created by acclaimed Cornwall based chefs were available at the Chefs Tipis.  Each Tipi menu from Prawn on the Lawn, Onda and One Fish Street was paired with a complimentary sample of a specially paired Sharp’s beer, chosen by Ed Hughes.

Sharp’s Brewery’s Brand Activation Manager Nick White says, “Myself and the Sharp’s team always really look forward to Rock Oyster Festival and this year was really incredible. Being based just down the road from where our beers are conceived and created, it was the perfect backdrop for us to do an official Cornwall homecoming celebration of our new Solar Wave brew. In addition to that, our launch of the Solar Wave Cornish Edition of our Silent Bistro at the event was met with so much festival-goer love.”
