Sustainable Cornish distillery launches new limited edition Distiller’s Cut Gin

Cornwall’s first plough-to-bottle distillery introduces a new limited edition Distiller’s Cut Gin –a one-of-a-kind, luxury single batch spirit created with Gin aficionados in mind.

HRH Sophie Duchess of Edinburgh filled, and hand sealed a bottle of the new limited edition Distiller’s Cut Gin, during Colwith’s very first Royal Visit this May – coinciding with the Distillery’s fifth anniversary.

Following the explosion in Gin popularity in recent years, the expert team at Colwith Farm Distillery has created an exceptional new product bringing gin back to its purist form – a juniper forward soft spirit, made by gin purists, for gin purists.

Created using class one, premium Maris Piper potatoes, grown overlooking the Fowey River only three miles from the Distillery, with mineral water sourced on the Farm – the Distillers’ Cut is a classic juniper forward dry gin, with vibrant citrus notes, exotic spices, and a beautifully soft mouthfeel.

Steve Dustow, Colwith Farm Distillery founder, says: “Our exciting new Distiller’s Cut Gin is a culmination of everything we’ve learnt about distillation since starting our incredible plough to bottle journey in 2018. Every drop of knowledge gathered over 20,000 hours of distilling is present within this bottle. Be it selecting the perfect potato for the base spirit, cooking, fermenting, and distilling in optimal conditions, sourcing the world’s finest botanicals, and marrying an array of distilling techniques.”

The piney juniper smacks the palate, complemented by rich and warming coriander spice, a subtle citrus sweetness follows, owed to fresh lemon verbena and orange peel and fragrant pink pepper adds further complexity – all brought together harmoniously by the creaminess from the sweet almonds.

In keeping with Colwith’s family business values and to nurture homegrown talent, local artist and fellow farmer Amy Trudgian created the bespoke Distiller’s Cut bottle artwork. Taking inspiration from the natural environment, the beautiful hand-drawn botanical illustrations encapsulate the attention to detail and dedication needed to create a spirit of this nature.

Colwith is Cornwall’s first plough-to-bottle distillery, which launched back in July 2018. Unlike 99% of distilleries who buy-in mass produced ethanol, Colwith make their award-winning spirits from scratch, on one site, using Cornish potatoes grown on their fifth-generation family farm.

The new limited edition, single batch, Distillers’ Cut Gin is now available via www.colwithfarmdistillery.co.uk and is priced at £45 (50% ABV/ 50cl). A special gift pack, including the Gin and a branded Dartington Copa Gin glass is also available, at £70, while stocks last.
