Unveiling ‘We Are Curious Creatures’: defying convention with vibrant craft rum

We Are Curious Creatures is rewriting the narrative of rum and igniting a rebellion against convention with the launch of their extraordinary spiced rum.

Embodying the spirit of curiosity and adventure, this bold libation emerges from the heart of Bristol, a city pulsating with innovation and daring dreams. Founded by two intrepid souls driven by a shared passion for crafting the extraordinary, We Are Curious Creatures seeks to redefine the essence of rum, whilst respecting its history and traditions.

Their journey begins in the Caribbean, sourcing the finest rums triple-distilled for unparalleled smoothness using a blend of pot and column stills. What sets their spiced rum apart is a fearless fusion of exotic botanicals and spices, resulting in a spiced rum that beckons both seasoned enthusiasts and curious novices. Featuring Spanish orange peel, creamy vanilla, sweet cinnamon, fiery ginger and rich toffee notes, each sip offers an immediate invitation to adventure.

“At We Are Curious Creatures, we like to challenge the norm and break the mould,” shared Tom Gully. “Tired of settling for mass-produced, mediocre rum, we embarked on a quest to craft a liquid masterpiece, defying the predictable.”

The brand’s identity, subtly represented by feather imagery on the label, hints at a deeper connection between their rum and a unique creature. This modern design approach, coupled with a vibrant teal colour scheme sets the brand apart from traditional seafaring motifs often associated with rum. “We’re not just offering a drink; we’re inviting you to embrace the unexpected,” said Co-Founder, Tom Fowkes. “Our spiced rum breaks away from the clichés, offering a citrus-led, refreshingly smooth experience that defies the ordinary.”

Available initially on their website and therumcompany.com, We Are Curious Creatures aims to expand into Bristol’s on-trade and independent spirit shops, bringing their rebelliously delightful creation closer to adventurous souls.

The brand champions the idea of challenging the mundane and embracing curiosity, promoting a sense of exploration. Early reviews have lauded the smoothness and vibrant character of the spiced rum, coupled with accolades for the innovative brand design. “We invite you to join us on this audacious journey,” urged Tom Gully. “Cheers to curiosity, to adventure, and to experiencing a rum like no other.”
