EBIKE Cafe is excited to announce the extension of its charitable partnership with Weldmar Hospicecare into the coming year. Following the successful launch last year, the Weldmarccino has become a staple on the EBIKE Cafe menu, with an impressive 4,750 sold to date. 10p from every Weldmarccino goes to Weldmar Hospicecare.
Josephine Claxton, one of the owners of EBIKE Cafe, tells us more: “Our Cappuccinos have always been a popular choice at the Cafe. Customers love the coffee we serve. When we launched the Weldmarccino, sales of them went through the roof. Customers loved the idea and many share their stories with us. I can tell you a lot of tears have been shed as we shared our experience over the last 12 months.”
The partnership holds a special place in Josephine’s heart, stemming from the exceptional care provided by Weldmar to Josephine’s mother, Margaret Barkway, during her short illness at Weldmar’s hospice in Dorchester and at home from Weldmar’s nursing team.

Josephine explains, “When customers ask us about the Weldmarccino, we talk to them about the impact Weldmar they have had on my family and the local wider community. So many of us have been touched by cancer. It is close to all our hearts. Our little daily contributions play a small part in raising the £26,000 per day needed to fund Weldmar Hospicecare’s free of charge services. Thank you to all our customers who really have made a difference.”
The monies raised by the Weldmarccinos and other events during 2023 have been topped off with a further £500 donation from money raised at the EBIKE Cafe’s annual Christmas Shopping Event. The event featured local artisan producers, creating a festive atmosphere with mulled wine and mince pies while patrons shopped and participated in a raffle.
Looking ahead to 2024, the EBIKE Cafe is committed to continuing the partnership, featuring the beloved Weldmarccino, alongside hosting more fundraising events and raffles.

Fiona Hansford from Weldmar welcomes the continuation of the charitable partnership with the EBIKE Cafe: “I am delighted that Ebike Café has chosen to continue with us as their Charitable Partner for 2024. On behalf of all the team at Weldmar Hospicecare, I’d like to say a huge thank you to Josephine, Peter and the team for their support over the last 12 months. The monies raised by the cafe help us to continue to provide specialist care to people in Dorset who have a life limiting illness, as well as their loved ones. We are very much looking forward to continuing our working together throughout the coming year.”
EBIKE Cafe is open daily from 9am. You can relax and enjoy good food and drinks on Weymouth’s iconic Harbourside. There is parking for those arriving by cycle and you can even recharge your bike at the eBike charging points.
