Get ready to feast: Northernhay Gardens to host the first Exeter Street Food Festival this June!

Street Food Warehouse are thrilled to announce the first Exeter Street Food Festival is heading to Northernhay Gardens (EX4 3SA) this June. From Friday 14th – Sunday 16th June over 25 of the best local and national street food traders will be serving up cuisines from across the world in the heart of the city centre. Expect three days of great food, refreshing drinks, live entertainment and fun for all the family! All you need to do beforehand is grab your FREE ticket, arrive hungry and be ready to explore the globe one street food dish at a time.

Street Food Warehouse are the team behind some of the finest street food festivals across the Welsh and South West coasts. From Devon to Swansea and Plymouth to Aberystwyth, they have cemented their reputation by hosting successful events for over 7 years. Now they are bringing their #SummerOfStreetFood tour to Exeter for 3 days of foodie heaven! Here’s what they had to say about the festival:

“We’ve wanted to host more festivals in the South West as the people of Devon have proved they have a huge appetite for delicious, high-quality food. For the past few years, our festivals have taken us to Newquay, Plymouth and North Devon and it only feels right Exeter enjoys a slice of the action. Vendors apply from across the UK to trade at our events allowing us to share new and exciting cuisines and provide a platform for up-and-coming talents on the food scene. Visitors can tuck into fan favourites or discover something entirely new, all whilst enjoying a refreshing draft craft beer and some live music in the heart of the city! Exeter Street Food Festival will be the perfect place to spend your weekend with friends and family enjoying delicious food and good vibes. We hope to get a good turnout in our first year so that we can come back again and again. Don’t forget it’ll also be Father’s Day weekend, so why not treat Dad or Grandad to some delicious food and a pint? Get ready for full bellies and great memories!”

The unique thing about Exeter Street Food Festival is that no two traders offer the same cuisine. This allows chefs to showcase their individuality whilst treating visitors to a wider range of dishes from near and far. You could feast on anything from Indian to Vietnamese, Thai to Moroccan, Mexican to Afghan, and Caribbean to Uzbek, with food to suit every dietary requirement and plenty to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Street Food Warehouse have dropped a little teaser of a couple of the traders they have lined up, including some fantastic South-West-based talent! Local lads Gourmet Street Kitchen are here to make your cheesy dreams come true with decadent, fresh-to-order mac and cheese with a twist. We’ve got our eyes on a portion of their ‘Hot & Handsome’ packed with homemade harissa, chorizo and caramelised onions. Feeling spicy? South West-based Miz Street Food will showcase a stunning selection of Mexican tacos. Dive into slow-cooked Yucatan-style pork or achiote roasted cauliflower for a flavour sensation sure to tickle every taste bud. Sweet tooth? Dawlish-based The Local Scoop will be on hand to satisfy that sweet treat craving. Their award-winning handmade ice creams come in a selection of classic flavours or you could go bold and choose something a little different from their specials menu. Because a day out filled with delicious food isn’t complete without a scoop (or two!) of the good stuff.

Don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten the need to quench everyone’s thirst! This summer the event is sponsored by award-winning brewery, Lost and Grounded. We’re envisioning a sunny day in Northernhay, live music paired with a delicious street food dish, washed down with a crisp pint of their Helles lager, awarded Beer of the Year in 2022! The festival is family-friendly at heart, welcoming all under-18s and well-behaved dogs for free!

You’ll need a ticket to enter, but fear not – tickets are free! Street Food Warehouse prides itself on a continued commitment to sustainability, which is why this year they’re introducing reusable cups at the bar. Simply pay a one-off fee of £2 with your first drinks order to receive your very own branded cup. You’ll use this cup throughout your visit and it’s yours to take home as a souvenir from a great day out. This helps them significantly reduce their single-use plastic and help keep the festival cleaner for all to enjoy.

Tickets for Exeter Street Food Festival can be found at www.exeterstreetfoodfestival.co.uk. Add-ons are also available for table reservations.

Residents of Exeter and beyond, get ready to feast upon some of the top street food that the UK has to offer. It will be a great food-fuelled weekend, packed with refreshing drinks, entertainment and fun for all the family. Dive into a culinary adventure and get your hands on the most vibrant and high-quality street food from around the world all in one place at Exeter’s Northernhay Gardens. It’s going to be a weekend to remember! Join Street Food Warehouse for the start of their #SummerOfStreetFood2024
