St Austell Brewery launched its own magazine, featuring all the latest news about its beers, pubs and what is happening behind the scenes. The Local is free to pick up in the company’s 44 managed pubs across the South West, for overnight guests or those stopping in for a pint or a bite to eat.
The business has partnered with Devon-based publishing company Salt Media to produce the magazine, of which 20,000 copies of the first edition will be printed.
The first issue of The Local showcases all the strings to St Austell Brewery’s bow, including an exclusive preview on this year’s limited-edition cask beers, news about its latest pub refurbishments and an interview with brewing director, Georgina Young. Foodies will enjoy a crowd-pleasing recipe for West Country korev mussels, while outdoor types will appreciate the recommendations for stunning South West Coast Path walks. Readers will also find out more about how St Austell Brewery is supporting the RNLI in its 200th year and its Heart of the Community campaign, which is raising money for life-saving defibrillators across the South West.
Laura McKay, Marketing and Communications Director, St Austell Brewery, said: “We’re thrilled to have partnered with Salt Media – a fellow South West business – to launch this new magazine and bring what we do to life. We’ve called it The Local because we recognise the important role our historic brewery and estate of pubs play in the fabric of communities throughout the South West and beyond. It’s a real showcase of the brilliant things happening across our business, with stories about the fantastic people behind the scenes – and our partners – who are making it happen.”
Jo Rees, Editorial Director, Salt Media said: “It was a delight to work with St Austell Brewery and to turn the various facets of such a high quality and authentic business into a magazine of the same quality. There are so many wonderful stories to be told about the numerous ways St Austell Brewery engages with the community, and it was a pleasure to turn them into a compelling publication that captures the essence of the business.”
The Local is also available to read online here. The second edition of the magazine, which will be released twice a year, is due in October.
