Navas was born from a discussion over a gin and tonic in a quintessential Cornish pub near the Helford, pondering the substantial absence of craft tonics compared with the ever-burgeoning range of well-produced, craft gins that were on offer.
Working at length with Cornish distillers, they tasked themselves to perfect a Tonic that enhanced botanicals without over-powering them. In reverence of the environment that living in that part of West Cornwall inspires, they knew the recipe needed to start with Cornish Spring Water.
With naturally filtered water (through the granite of Bodmin Moor) and an aim to have as many natural ingredients as possible, their journey led to a discussion with the nearby Eden Project to experiment with growing botanicals in their renowned biomes.
Elevating People & Planet are central to the Navas Drinks ethos – whether it be their recent B-Corp accreditation, their partnership with The Eden Project, use of natural spring water from Bodmin Moor or simply always trying to conduct business in a thoughtful manner.
Nina Hearne, Operations Manager at Navas Drinks says: “Being a Taste of the West member has meant remaining with one foot firmly in the place Navas was conceived. We believe that there is always opportunity to grow and adapt but to do so, it’s important to gain valuable feedback and understand our industry. What better way to do this than put it in the hands of the people drinking it. We were over the moon to see our Dry Ginger Ale take home a Champion Award last year as well as previous awards from Taste of the West, and hope to keep bringing something special to the table each time.”
