Keltek Cornish Brewery

Keltek Cornish Brewery was founded in 1997 and is proudly rooted in Cornwall, embracing the region’s rich heritage and traditions. The name “Keltek,” which means “Celtic” in Cornish, reflects the brewery’s commitment to celebrating local culture and community. Their journey began with a simple passion for crafting exceptional beer using traditional methods. Starting as a small operation, they have grown into a nationally recognized brewery, producing award-winning ales and lagers.

The brewery prides itself on using British-sourced malt, whole hop flowers, and hand-pitched yeast to ensure the highest quality. Sustainability is also at the heart of what they do, with initiatives such as solar energy, carbon logistic deliveries, and supporting local suppliers.

Over the years, they’ve expanded not only their product line but also their reach. Keltek Brewery has won multiple prestigious awards, including three European Beer Awards, and they are the only brewery in the South West to achieve such recognition. Their products are enjoyed in pubs, festivals, and homes across the UK.

Looking to the future, they aim to continue their legacy of quality and innovation while expanding their community impact. Plans include collaborating with local organizations, introducing new and exciting products, and further embracing sustainable practices. Their ultimate goal is to remain a beloved Cornish brand that supports local businesses and brings people together over a great pint.

Keltek Brewery were awarded Taste of the West’s Champion Beer Award in 2024 for their Pilot Gig – a dark porter with a rich and deep colour, a sweet and enticing aroma of liquorice and chocolate, subtle hints of coffee in the taste – a full-bodied beer.

Stewart Cawte, the Managing Director, says: “Winning Taste of the West’s Champion Award is a tremendous honour and a proud moment for Keltek Cornish Brewery. It reflects the dedication, craftsmanship, and passion that go into every beer we create. Being recognized at this level validates the hard work of our team and highlights the quality of our products on a prestigious platform. As a member of Taste of the West, we are privileged to stand alongside some of the finest producers in the South West. It means being part of a community that celebrates the region’s exceptional food and drink, supporting local producers, and promoting sustainable and high-quality practices.”

“For us, the award is not just about recognition; it’s about reaffirming our commitment to our customers and the local community. It inspires us to keep innovating while honouring traditional methods that have defined Keltek Brewery from the start. Being part of Taste of the West also gives us a unique opportunity to showcase Cornwall’s heritage and the excellence of its produce to a broader audience, which is something we are immensely proud of.”
