The team at Téatro Bar and Restaurant in Cirencester recently experienced a heart-warming and unexpected visit from Mother Nature, transforming into temporary midwives for a wild duck that chose their garden to nest.
Nestled beside the tranquil river that borders the Ingleside House and The Barn Theatre complex, the popular piano bar became the unlikely setting for a feathered drama. Staff affectionately named the expectant mother Daphne, and watched with delight as she successfully hatched her brood of ducklings. True to her maternal instincts, Daphne then safely guided her young away from the garden.

Hotel Manager Amy Malins recounted the charming event: “We had consulted Gloucestershire Wildlife Rescue, but she was happy in and amongst the plants of our garden and was under no harm.” Inspired by their special guest, Bar Manager Arran Fowler crafted a unique cocktail in her honour, aptly named – the “Quack & Bloom.
Malins enthusiastically described the new creation: “It is a bright and floral cocktail. We thought it deserved a small celebration of its own — something light, fresh, and a little unexpected. The drink is layered with citrus, botanical notes, and a touch of Crémant for a celebratory sparkle. Served in the Téatro Bar and available for a limited time only, it’s the perfect pre-theatre sip or evening indulgence.”
She added with a smile, “It’s been one of those stories that makes people smile, and the ‘Quack & Bloom’ cocktail is our way of passing it on.”
For those eager to taste this delightful tribute, the “Quack & Bloom” is available now at Téatro until stocks last. To discover more or to reserve a table, please visit the Téatro or the Ingleside website, or call 01285 648238.
