British Summertime Tipple – The West Country’s answer to Pimms

Ten Hides, a small artisan distillery on the banks of the River Avon as it flows through Melksham in Wiltshire, and which hand-crafts an award-winning range of gins and rum, has launched a unique British Summertime Tipple. Just in time for the next heat wave.

A collaboration with the Bristol-based aperitif specialists The Aperitivo Co, BST is based on Ten Hides aromatic dry Wiltshire Gin – a World Gin Award holder, and blended with Aperitivo’s sweet Rosso Vermouth and orange Triple Sec. All made locally, and proudly West Country to the core.

The British Summertime Tipple is a ‘first’ for the UK. When mixed with lemonade (one part BST to two parts lemonade) it becomes a refreshingly light drink with citrus fruit overtones, and an aromatic spirit base. Serve it over ice, with fresh berries, cucumber slices and a sprig of mint – for a real showstopper. We call it ‘pure sunshine in a glass’.

“We wanted to create a drink to appeal to all ages,” explains Ten Hides MD James Brake, “and one that is rooted firmly in the West Country, like the rest of our range. We were excited to get together with the team at Aperitivo, founded by two former cocktail bartenders who are bringing the European drinking culture to Britain.”

“As soon as we met, I knew we could create something truly distinctive – not only using the very best quality products but also ones that are all made within a radius of less than fifty miles.”

Ten Hides’ British Summertime Tipple is available in a 50cl bottle, with ten servings per bottle. For more trade information and prices, contact Alison Ward-Baptiste, Head of Sales, at alisonwardbaptiste@tenhides.com

The Wiltshire distillery also produces London Dry Gin – aromatic with spicy notes & hints of flowers found on Wiltshire’s chalklands. A World Gin Award 2023 winner, Pink Gin – delicate pink with a fresh taste of wild strawberries, Orange Gin – Mandarin, orange blossom & bergamot, the perfect citrus balance of sweet and sharp, and Spiced Rum – Silky smooth with vanilla & caramel – winner of a Great Taste Award 2024.
