Three times the charm: KNEAD Bakery awarded Great Taste Awards for three bakes for the third year in a row

KNEAD Bakery, founded by John Hawes and Kris Biggs, has been awarded 2025 Great Taste Awards for three of their stunning bakes: Cinnamon Bun, Tiramisu Tart, and Stollen Bun.

This great testament to the passion, creativity and consistency of the KNEAD team, marks the third year in a row that KNEAD has received Great Taste Awards for their baked goods. Their Cinnamon Bun received a 2-Star award, described as ‘seductive’, with a sugary crunch and a ‘buttery, light and decadent’ texture. KNEAD’s Tiramisu Tart also received 2-Stars for its striking presentation, subtle cocoa flavour, and silky espresso ganache. Finally, their German Stollen Bun received 1-Star for its ‘indulgent’ and ‘wholesome’ flavour.

KNEAD’S success is continuing at a pace. KNEAD welcomed opened their Oxfordshire site on Oxford’s High Street this June and opened a further KNEAD bakery in Tewkesbury Cotswolds Designer Village this month (July) taking their current portfolio up to five sites with more site opening on the horizon.

KNEAD has been founded by John Hawes and Kris Biggs over their shared passion for pastry and baking and applying the key principles of tradition, quality and seasonality. Having worked together at a 5 star, 2 Michelin starred hotel, the duo wanted to bring their knowledge and expertise to the high street. All breads, pastries, cakes, are made by hand, with care, and according to the season.

Since opening in 2020, KNEAD has diversified its offering to include KNEAD on wheels – a mobile bakery bringing freshly made baguettes, salads and sweet treats to workplaces and local villages across Gloucestershire. Their Elkstone site is also home to seasonal supper clubs from Italian Night to Tapas and BBQ, this is an opportunity for KNEAD to bring together their team of talented chefs and bakers to showcase their culinary skills which all the community can enjoy.

KNEAD has already gained inclusion in La Liste’s World’s Best Pastry Shop Selection and The Times Top 49 Bakeries in the UK, recognised for their high-end and award-winning handmade pastries and this month KNEAD picked up a further award for best café & coffee shop in Gloucestershire at SOGlos awards 2025.
