Lyme Bay Winery has released its new 2024 Pinot Noir, a highly anticipated follow-up to its 2021 vintage, which was awarded Best Pinot Noir at the 2025 International Wine Challenge (IWC), a landmark achievement that positioned the wine among the finest examples of the variety globally.
The 2024 Pinot Noir continues this trajectory, made from 100% Pinot Noir and sourced exclusively from Crouch Valley in Essex. With an ABV of 12.5% and aged in 32% new oak, the wine displays a bright cherry red hue with a vibrant nose of red fruit, vanilla oak, gentle herb and spice tones, and earthy complexity. The palate is concentrated and refined, with cherry, raspberry and redcurrant layered over hints of mulberry, before unfolding into savoury spice and subtle mushroom earthiness, finishing long and elegant.
Though still youthful, the 2024 Pinot Noir already demonstrates impressive structure and concentration, with the potential to evolve beautifully over the coming years. Its balance of vibrant fruit and earthy nuances makes it enjoyable now, while promising further depth for those who cellar it.
“Our goal is always to express purity, balance and a strong sense of place,” says Clem Yates MW, Winemaking Consultant at Lyme Bay Winery. “The recognition our 2021 Pinot Noir received on the international stage was an important milestone, it confirmed what we have long believed about the quality of Pinot Noir that can be grown here. The 2024 release is a continuation of that story, with the potential to age gracefully and reveal even greater depth over time.”
Lyme Bay’s ambition is to craft world-class still wines from some of England’s most exceptional vineyard sites.
