Flapjackery unveils revamped Tavistock shop officially reopened by the Mayor of Tavistock

Flapjackery, the award‑winning artisan flapjack brand born in Tavistock, has officially reopened its newly revamped Duke Street shop. The ribbon was cut today by the Mayor of Tavistock, Steve Hipsey, who praised the business for its contribution to the town’s high street and community.

The Tavistock shop holds a special place in Flapjackery’s story. Opened in 2019, it was the company’s very first bricks‑and‑mortar store and marked the moment the homemade flapjacks went from local shows and country fairs to a permanent home. Six years on, that small beginning has grown into a thriving business employing more than 70 people, with 17 shops across the South West and a nationwide online store.

The Duke Street shop has now been fully refreshed to reflect Flapjackery’s bright, joyful branding and the look and feel of its newer stores. The updated interior and exterior bring the Tavistock shop in line with the company’s wider retail identity while preserving the warmth and character that customers know and love.

Flapjackery director Henry Franklin said: “Tavistock will always be our home. This was our first shop, the place where everything began, and it remains a jewel in the town’s high street. We’re proud to be an important local employer and part of a community that has supported us from day one.

“The revamp brings our original shop in line with the fresh, exciting look of our newer stores, while keeping the spirit of that very first opening. It feels like a new chapter for a place that means a great deal to us.”

Steve Hipsey, Mayor of Tavistock: “Flapjackery is a wonderful example of what makes Tavistock’s high street so special. It began here, it has grown here, and it continues to invest in the town and its people. The revamped shop looks fantastic – bright, welcoming and full of character – and it reflects the energy and creativity that Flapjackery brings to our community. I was delighted to officially reopen the store and wish the team every success as they continue their journey from their Tavistock roots.”

Flapjackery’s success in Tavistock is closely tied to the town’s distinctive character. With its Bedford Estate heritage, strong independent retail culture and a calendar of much‑loved events – from Goosey Fair to Dickensian Evening and Cream Tea Week – Tavistock remains one of the South West’s most vibrant market towns. The work of Tavistock BID continues to champion local businesses and drive footfall, making the town a thriving destination for residents and visitors alike.

The newly refurbished Tavistock shop is now open seven days a week, offering the full range of Flapjackery’s handmade flapjacks, gifts and hampers. Visit www.flapjackery.co.uk to find out more.
