Canned Wine Group is delighted to announce that it has named Mark Crowther as a Non-Executive Director and Investor, as the business continues to broaden its portfolio and extend its wealth of experience and knowledge. Mark joins the company’s board in May 2026.
In an illustrious career that spans over 30 years, Mark has led multiple drinks operators as well as pub and restaurant chains to become market leaders within their industries. Since his GM role at Allied Domecq in the 90s, Mark went on to succeed in many pivotal roles within the food, drink, pub and restaurant industries respectively. His experience in senior roles at Diageo, Brakes and Carlsberg is complemented by his leadership at Butcombe owner Liberation Group and Chair roles across the pub sector, from Portobello Pubs to The Pub People Company. Mark is also Chair of fellow Bath-based restaurant business, The Walcot Group.
Since Canned Wine Group’s launch in 2019, the business has strived to become one of the most innovative yet premium wines on the market and with the acquisition of The Copper Crew, their alternative approach to wine formats, packaging and newly introduced draught wine, has earned them the reputation as one of the UK’s leading wine brands. The business has also reached an agreement with the C&C Group – the largest drinks wholesaler in the UK, securing distribution across the whole country, expanding the businesses reach to multiple sectors in entertainment and wider hospitality.
The appointment of Mark will mean the business’ escalating growth is not slowing down any time soon. The expertise Mark brings from the drinks and pub sector is going to add priceless leadership value to Canned Wine Group as a whole, further cementing the business as an industry leader.
Mark Crowther, Non-Executive Director and Investor is looking forward to starting his new position on the board at Canned Wine Group, and excited to help them progress further: “Really excited to be supporting and investing into this Bath-based business, one that is local to me personally. I’m excited by the growth potential of Canned Wine Group and I look forward to working with Simon, Ben and the team to support this growth. Canned Wine Group are targeting becoming the leading quality business in this sector of the drinks market. We also aim to be leaders with innovation including the draught wine opportunity.”
Mark is the latest newcomer in a busy year of change at Canned Wine Group, following the appointment of Ben Franks as CEO and Simon Rollings’ transition to Executive Chair in February. Mark’s experience and expertise align well with Canned Wine Group’s goals of building upon long-term market strategy, governance and funding – objectives that have prided Mark with success in his previous other significant roles in his career.
Ben Franks, CEO, said of Mark Crowther’s appointment: “I’m delighted to welcome Mark to the team. It’s a message to the trade that we are fully committed to approaching draught wine in the same way we’ve approached the canned wine sector: uncompromising quality and genuinely exciting wines that elevate the moment for customers everywhere.”
